Owl Party Favors

For this post, I teamed up with Oriental Trading to create these fun mini Owl Party Favors.  Wouldn't they be cute for just about anything?  What an adorable little treat for a party, teacher, friend, etc...  I was very impressed with the quality and ease of putting these little guys together.  I added my own touch with glitter on the eyes and wings.  So, if you love owls, give these cuties a try.

Supplies needed:
Oriental Trading Owl Treat Holder Craft Kit
Original Tacky Glue, or any other strong adhesive
Stickles Glitter Glue from Oriental Trading
Skittles, M&Ms or any other small candy

Directions:
  1. Fold and adhere the owls together as shown in the kit directions.
  2. Add features (eyes, beak, wings, etc...) as you like.  I mixed up the colors.
  3. Add the Stickles on top of the eyes and wings to add some glitter.  Let dry completely.
  4. Fill with the candy of your choice.

Gender Reveal Cake - Lips and Mustaches

My sister just had baby #2, an adorable little boy.  So, a few months ago we had a gender reveal party for the family.  Another sister and sister-in-law put together lots of fun decorations and food.  The theme was adorable....lips and mustaches.

I was in charge of the cake.  What an important job.  My sister went to the doctor on a Thursday.  He put the gender in an envelope and she brought it to me.  I was the only one that knew what the baby would be.  So exciting!  I didn't even let my hubby or kids know.  I already had the white cake baked.  It was waiting to be filled with M&M's that would fall out to reveal the gender once cut.  The family gathered and made their guesses by stamping a mustache on a poster for boy, and lips for girl.  Overall, it was a pretty even split.  What a fun way to reveal the gender!!

I baked 4 round cakes to create the 4-layer cake.  I cut a circle out of the middle two layers.
Start putting the cake together by frosting the bottom layer.
Next, add the middle layers with the holes.  Frost each one.
Fill the cake with colored M&M's.
Add the top layer.
Frost the outside of the cake, smooth, and decorate.
The lips and mustaches were created with lollipop molds and
Wilton candy melts from Hobby Lobby.
Here are the guesses before we cut into the cake.

The sequin ribbon decor & lollipop sticks were also found at Hobby Lobby.

Ta-da!!  IT'S A BOY!!  They were so excited.

Strawberry Fruit Fluff

This fruit salad is a long-time favorite in my family.  We eat it as a side dish, dessert, and even breakfast.  It is a simple and easy to make dish that will delight the whole family.  Take it to your next family gathering and have them devour it within minutes.

Ingredients:
1 large can of pears, drained and diced OR 1 pint of strawberries, diced
1 (16 oz.) container of small curd cottage cheese
1 pkg. strawberry flavored dry gelatin mix
1 (16 oz.) container of whipped topping
Toppings:  sprinkles, nuts, etc...

Directions:
1.  Combine the pears in a large bowl with the cottage cheese.
2.  Add the dry gelatin mix and stir until well blended.
3.  Fold in the whipped topping and refrigerate for at least one hour.
4.  Feel free to top with sprinkles, nuts, or leave plain.
