I made this fun heart cake last weekend to for my mom's (step-mom) birthday. She is a very special lady that is always full of heart. I thought this cake would be a perfect way to celebrate. Plus, I had a great time designing it. A chocolate and pink layered cake, almond buttercream, and candy hearts...you can't go wrong!!
Start with a four layer cake - 2 layers of chocolate and 2 layers of white cake colored pink. Cover it in buttercream frosting. |
Make these fun hearts using Wilton candy melts found at a hobby store. Melt them as directed on the package and pipe onto parchment paper. |
Decorate your cake as you please. I added sprinkles to the edge of the cake and stuck hearts all over the top. |
For extra decor, I added a few hearts and sprinkles to the bottom front of the cake. |
A picture of the inside. I think it turned out great. |
My youngest daughter and Mimi. What a fun celebration!! |
