We love to explore the Kansas City area. Finding new experiences in my hometown area has become an adventure for my family. Recently, we visited the SEALIFE Aquarium. It was my niece’s 6th birthday and we wanted to make it special. A trip to the aquarium was just what we needed.
The aquarium is conveniently located next to Legoland at Crown Center. See my blog post HERE for that trip.
Did you know that SEALIFE has bread over 2,900 in the past year? Or rescued over 240 turtles and seals in the past year? Those were just two of the facts that surprised us at the beginning of our tour.
A log book of activities was provided to collect stamps and claim a small reward at the end of the trip.
We started off in the Freshwater exhibit learning about natural water in glaciers, lakes, rivers, and streams.
Next, was the Coastal Waters exhibit. The kids favorite part was the interactive rockpool. They were able to see and feel all different kinds of starfish. What a great learning experience!
The large aquariums made it easy for us to see many species of fish, sharks, and other sea life.
The Coral Caves exhibit literally took the kids underwater with this peek hole in the middle of the aquarium. That looks like one happy birthday girl!
The highlight of the trip was seeing this HUGE stingray in the tunnel that goes through the aquarium. We were truly up close and personal. What a sight!
The variety of fish species is amazing. Each one is featured throughout the aquarium. There is so much to learn.
We made it to the ray aquarium where you can view them from above.
After leaving the aquarium, you end up in the gift shop. It is full of memorabilia and treasures to take home.
We loved SEALIFE! I recommend that you take your time walking through and enjoy each exhibit. We went a little too fast since my girls are a little older and walk faster. It is basically a one-way trail through the aquarium. So, relax, pace yourself, and enjoy the visit!
So,
if you are looking for a fun family outing, and live in
the KC area, head to SEALIFE. It's a great outing for those rainy days or cold winters when you need an indoor acitivity!
