We redecorated the first floor of our house this past year. New paint, rustic wood window valances, and lots of decor. We kept it neutral with grays, but added a pop of color with turquoise rugs, wall hangings, pillows, and other decor. So, when I went to decorate for Christmas this year I decided to incorporate the turquoise with red instead of my usual traditional red and green. It took a little convincing of my family, but they love it. To add to the fun, and with the help of Oriental Trading supplies, I created these easy foam cone Christmas trees. Follow my directions and make some of your own in any color!
Supplies needed:
foam cones
twine, ribbon, or tulle
hot glue or sewing pins
cardboard tube*
wood slice coasters
decorations (beads, gems, etc...)
* I found the tube in the package of glow sticks from the dollar store. Yep, the tube that protects the sticks from getting bent!! Cut them into three shorter tubes to use with your cones.
Directions:
- Glue twine or tulle to cone. If using ribbon, stick sewing pins into the cone to secure it instead of glue.
- Twist cardboard tube into the bottom of the cone to make a groove. Glue tube to cone.
- Glue tube to wood slices.
- Decorate with beads, more sewing pins, baker's twine, gems, etc...
